Kensington Palace has been a royal residence for over 300 years, and it was here that Queen Victoria was born and spent her childhood. More recently, the palace was home to Diana, Princess of Wales. Set within the tranquillity of Kensington Gardens, this is the most intimate of the royal palaces, not simply an impressive backdrop for court ceremonies, but a charming and much-loved “home from home”. The magnificent State Apartments give a glimpse into court life, with an impressive display of paintings from the royal collection.

The Sunken Garden
This intriguing garden was created during the reign of Edward VII and recreates the formal gardens that existed at Kensington Palace in the 17th century, when it was admired by Samuel Pepys, among others, as “A might fine cool place... with a great level of water in the middle”.

The Orangery
The Orangery Café and Restaurant offers a wide range of refreshments, from morning coffee and light lunches to afternoon tea. A children's menu is also available. All food is homemade daily on site.

Fashion Rules: Restyled
From February 2016, a new exhibition of clothing on display will take you into the wardrobes of Her Majesty the Queen, Princess Margaret and Princess Diana, giving you the chance to admire the style of these three royal personalities over time.
